They will need 500 of them to run NYC

And still need nuclear plants and will need to buy hydro from Canada to give enough electricity

A few questions : What's the life expectancy of one of these units? What will the shoreshide facilities look like and how will the land be acquired? Environmental impacts of these facilities on land? Mammal and bird interactions of the windmills? Cost of electricity to the consumer? Maintenance of windmills? Hurricane survivability? Compensation to commercial fishermen who will lose traditional fishing grounds? Closed areas around windmills?

with all the solar panels being put on homes and those homeowners selling excess electricity back to the utility companies, why do we need windmills and their inherent problems?

Have you been to south point lately? What does that old wind farm look like these days?

I have not been there since 07 or so.

The South Point windmills are looking like sht! Rusty with less than half operational. Upolu point near Hawi is fairing a lot better , most functioning and well maintained. Imagine how quickly this project will go to sht without near constant maintenance? Gonna be interesting getting a crew onto one of those monsters in the winter with some weather hammering it.

Do they kill seals and sea gulls? They might be useful.

They will kill a lot of gulls.

Which will feed a lot of seals.
