Getting punched in the head for a living is rough on a man.

Poor Red, he doesn’t even get paid for it.

RIP MH

Quick Marvin Hagler story. At a Country Bar up in Peabody, MA  in the late 80's called O.K. Corral. A guy I knew it was his fathers place. Marvin Hagler would hang out there and he was a country music guy. Who would have thought?  Cowboy hat and all with boots. 3am everybody messed up singing blues brothers songs. That was a great time.

Best round in Boxing! Hearns took some shots, so did Hagler.

RIP Marvin. I was his paperboy during elementary  school. He had a terrible  speech  problem and was extremely  shy talking to people  because of it at the time.. Modest apartment  at the time, although  it did have a heavy bag hanging  in the living room.

We saw him again in the 90's with a hot blonde chic with a broken accent. Red Mercedes convertible. I think he had New Hampshire plates on the car. That dude could drink.

He beat Sugar Ray... never paid for another boxing match after that.

He earned that loss more than Sugar Ray earned the win...Once Hagler got serious in that fight, it was clear he was the better fighter....but he spent the first half of the fight trying to beat Sugar Ray by playing Sugar Ray's cutesy game, and it didn't work...If he fought the entire fight they way he did from rounds 7 and on, he may have actually KO'd Leonard.

But regardless, he was a great fighter from a time when boxing was actually a great sport...RIP
