It's just plain stupid.

But it's not my money.

that's why I would think some analytics might be used at some point,

the free agent signings rarely make sense to me,

money is blown with little chance of paying off.

like Washington spending a lot of money on Landon Collins,

how is that cap hit possibly justified?

that rarely translates to front office thinking

You think you know better than a front office?  I'm sure they're aware they can have some degree of success with a lesser qb.  They're also aware that it usually doesn't yield super bowl rings.  Having that QB that can orchestrate a pass attack in the NFL is what gives them the best change to win rings.

Cowgirls figure they have an Ewok and Dak is the safe bet and want to roll with that.  If the stars align it might just work out for them.

depends on the front office,

I dare you to defend the moves washington has made over the last 20 years.

Past 20 years the Redskins have won just enough games to never get a good pick in the draft and suck at the same time.

they've had a few high picks.

Dak is what the 10 maybe 11th best QB in the league?

same with cousins a few years ago,

if you are barely top 10 and you want a top money the franchise can't (shouldn't) pay.

I'd rather have the 15th best qb and a ton of money to spend for other players.

Dallas won't win with Dak and this contract.

he's not good enough to put the team on his back,

and his record against winning teams is pretty bad.

$80M combined against the cap in 2021 for Dak, Cooper and Elliot.  23rd ranked defense in the league last year.  44% of cap space occupied by 3 players on offense (assuming contracts remain in tact).  They will fill the seats at least.

what were they the year before?  if you go by yards per game, they were 9th.

Time of Possession............ Dallas was ranked 27th.  18th the year before.

if your offense isn't that good, your defense is gonna be on the field longer.

that tires them out.

they got most of their roster signed for the next three or four years.
