Well another season of no playoffs,

I believe you are thinking of the Patriots, the Steelers made the playoffs last year.

He would have receiver 41m if he played this year under his old contract.  New contract, he is playing for 14m this year.  5m pay cut, voidable years.  One year deal.  15m off cap hit.

Tomlin is still there so it doesn't matter.

And the cap hit is still over 22 million....

No choice at this stage, for him or the team. Shortly, its time to plan for the future, Ben couldn't get out of his own way 15 years ago, today its almost sad. Another 10-6 year coming, out in the first round. Good team, good coach, but nothing that scares you.

Steelers are an interesting professional sports team. Is it better to be somewhat relevant over a long period of time or is it better to have to do a total rebuild every decade or so and make a real run at championships. Not sure there’s a wrong answer.
