2 Stroke outboard oil

I have a 2000 115 Johnson that runs great but smokes a lot. Was wondering if a synthetic oil would help any. I am using the red Johnson/Evinrude oil now. It is oil injected and the oil pump is fine. Any ideas?

I have an old 2 stroke on a 14' Mirrocraft and if it's smoking, usually there's too much oil in the mix. Run it in the driveway with the muffs on for a bit to see if it works itself out. Also fresh plugs on a year 2000 is always a good idea. Mines a 1990 lol so I change out the plugs every couple of years because it's cheap DIY maintenance.

Also go synthetic if you can. It's not much more money and has the fuel stabilizer and is better for the moving bits overall.

Check your fuel lines, if you are sucking air the fuel pump works harder which makes the oil pump pump harder and add too much oil.  Install a clear piece of fuel line close to the motor and look for bubbles which is a clear indication air is leaking in.

An oil change won't correct the problem
