Spring time striper lures

Bucktails, tending toward the smaller sizes, with 3/4 oz. typical.  Also soft plastics in similar sizes.

If I'm fishing an estuary or creek with river herring, a 6-inch plastic swimmer (Bomber, Redfin, etc.) in black/silver or blue/silver.

Also smaller SP Minnows, etc.

Bucktails and/or plastics are used 80%+ of the time, with the others held back for special situations.

Jig heads with curly tail grubs and slug-go’s.

Spook type lures for slowly walking the dog.

Pencil popper for a bit more distance when I’m searching.

Crippled Herring for more distance and depth.

Throw everything, do it a week before you expect them around. Chances are you have some new stuff in your arsenal you haven’t seen swim yet. That way by the time nice size fish are in your area your using your time with something you have confidence in.
