Garmin Striker 5 or Striker 4?

1 post in this topic

I currently have a Garmin Striker 4+ on one kayak and it works fine for where I fish in inland freshwater lakes and rivers. I have another kayak (Sportsman PDL 106) needing a fish finder and am content to stay with Garmin. A friend showed me a screenshot of the high resolution display from his Garmin 5 and I felt my credit card warm up in my pocket. But I do have numerous things I want to get to outfit this new kayak so am also feeling budget-minded.

I guess I could try to buy another Striker 4+ transducer to mount in the new kayak and simply swap the display unit back and forth (the original 'ducer is duct-sealed into the hull of the other kayak).

Any feedback on the Garmin 5? Suggestions to outfit the new kayak with a fishfinder? Mapping not a big deal.
