What's everyone tying for this years saltwater!?

I've recently purchased a better vice and have been tying a bunch lately. Mostly beginning to experiment with flatwings and epoxy minnows at the moment, but curious as to what others are tying?

Thanks!

Experimenting this winter.    Starting with trying to replicate Charlie Bisharat's Pole Dancer  (top water) with the help of "theshadow" and "Suave" and then more SW tube flies, starting with sand eels and Mickelsons's epoxy baitfish.

I must confess, I have not thrown anything epoxy since Bluefish became scarce in the surf.  My preference is always for fly that "breathes and/or suspends, as I am obsessed with a presentation that I mend into the current.  Of course, a major disadvantage is that I always have a full length of running line in the basket, so if a fish hits close to me, my fingers end up being the drag. Thus I always were Cabela's sun gloves when fly fishing, since they have built in pads. So what do I tie - Flatwings, of course, including not only fin fish, but also squid imitations. General Practitioner Flatwing shrimp, Rays Flyes, and Hollow or High Tie Bunker.  Besides Bucktail and feathers, I have found that Ferrar Blend ( I make my own) and Natural Salt Water Yak Hair, if tied sparsely, breathes very well, so I have both some medium and rather large bunker that I tie with these materials. - mostly bunker pictures are attached.

Awesome, actually I tide one of his sand eels today. Very easy and fun! Will certainly make an assortment of size and colors for schoolies and flats.

Going hard on popovics patterns this year. Tied in Jersey so they must work in Jersey right?

Thanks for sharing pics! I hope to learn how to tie using synthetic materials. Flat wings look great, what did you make the heads with in the the attached pics? Marabou?

I know I've got a ways to go, but just started tying. This was my fifth flat-wiing, first ever using three hackle feathers. :)

Looks like palmer chenille - rootbeer. There's small/ medium/ large which are the length of the fibers.

There are similar products around though.

Clouser & clouser variations as well as gotchas & charlies for me. Use bead chain eyes for shallower areas. It's what I catch most of my fish on....
