I’ve been fishing so long my first fishing outfit was bought at a hardware and was a true temper metal fly rod.... and the line size was in letter designations like silk fly lines.

I've been fishing so long, that we used to stand shoulder to shoulder and everyone was catching fish.... On the north shore of long island. Ah those were the days

I’ve been fishing just long enough to remember Chatham as a world class, striped bass shore fishery - pre-seals- 20 years ago. Even a goog like me could scrounge up fish.

Coolers filled with tiderunner weakfish, a bunch of big bass in a nite was no big deal, Penn was still king, and braid was in its infancy...

I’ve been fishing so long the only place to buy tackle was the hardware store.

I have been fishing so long a station wagon was the best thing to use to tow the boat.

Ugh, you beat me to it. Forgot about those metal fishing rods. Can’t tell you how many times I used it to whack my brother.

I remember watching Saturday morning  fishing shows in front of a black and white tube television with Joe Brooks, Lee Wulff, and other fishing icons. As well as reading fishing reports in the Baltimore Sun newspaper.

Back then being a outdoorsman was what men were expected to do and was a socially accepted norm. As kids we all wanted to be a Joe Brooks, Lee Wulff, Fred Bear, or Howard Hill. Hard to believe what has transpired in our societies values in just 70 years.
