Kid - Very interesting. I'm certainly familiar with your town, was born on Hough Road in 'South Sutton'. Do you remember the "Great Chicken Mill Fire"? I remember all the fish dying downstream. The thought was that it was nitrogen from the chicken manure washed into the river during the fire. I witnessed hundreds of dead fish(mostly bass and suckers) stacked up at the dam on Grey's Pond, which was one of my favorite bass ponds. I have to assume most of the trout in the Mumford were also killed. I'll bet you and I have fished all the same places in central Mass...:howdy:

All I remember of the fire was it's happening . Though I had seen it before it went up it really was too bad it was a nice building. My father in law gave me like 20 minutes notice when they took down the stack, Got there just in time for the warning whistle. Had no time to compose handheld my camera on it heard the sound of the blast; Just let the motor drive do it's job till it sounded over.  Took a couple pics of people running up to see. Never knew what I shot till the film got processed . I'll post some pics tonight I'll have to down load the pics off another computer first .

The world famous Cackle factory. The last thing left of it was the stack. First pic is at the sound of the charge going off. The rest following is as she went down. These are about a third that was shot but it does give a sense of the event. I would've killed for more time to shoot this event .Road level at close to 100 yards was not an ideal spot. At least I savaged something , The historical society had put them together as a flip watch thingy like one would view like a movie. But alas they lost track of that and my original proofs. These had to be scanned for raw negative stock.
