Need New 8nbait Heaver

I am in the market for a new conventional 8nbait rod.

I am considering the 12ft Penn Battalion ll vs the new 12ft St. Croix Avid.

I am leaning towards the Avid mostly.

Check out the Century Surf Machine Max.  Easy to cast with big distance.

The avid is very stiff. I prefer a big one piece lami heaver but I do  recommend the mojo 6-16 I’ve had it 7 years now because it’s a two piece and I find it handles everything I’ve thrown 12 and a chunk or anything. I do fish mono with an old Newell but I get some very good distance with that rod. And it’s been bullet proof.

The new Avid is stiff?

I had the previous generation 12ft Avid and it seemed softer then the 12ft OM's and 12ft Ticas.

The team daiwa 6-16 should at least be on your list of rods to consider.

I will look into it.

It is almost impossible to find any Penn surf rods for sale anywhere.

I saw the 6-12 battalion 2 on ebay

4-10 is on the penn site.  There solid rods totally capable . I never cast the 6-12  but the 4-10 would still throw 8 but if it's a drum rod I would go 6-12.

I need the 6-12.

I have looked up the ccp rods, but nothing rated over 8oz, I suppose they are underrated.

Bring that, a 1328 w/graphene set up for a conventional reel, and a Weapon Jr. to your next demo. One of Satan's agents (and on this site!) is singing the praises of the WEapon Jr. to me.  I might as well try it.
