JosephTree
Hi All, I have looked at expanding my tackle universe to include a conventional casting outfit, and am looking at a reel like the Calcutta 200D (actually the 201D, because I run that way.) I hope to use it for not too heavy plugging, bucktailing, jigging Avas and maybe fluking. Does anyone have a rod they'd pair with a reel like this? Given a choice I'd opt for something not too pricey. The reel alone will be the most expensive single piece of gear I've ever bought that I couldn't sit in. Thanks! (This is my first post here. I'm a Striper Surf refugee.)
BrianBM
I can't advise you on the rod. Take note, though, that we don't allow discussions of other fishing websites, or their key personalities, at all. What happens on zzz dot com has to stay there. First ever posting mistake. ...I thought that dead and gone websites weren't much to be concerned about. If I'm going to find a goof to make henceforth it will not be that one. Jim DE
I have both my Calcutta 200/201 (got one of each) te’s (ones a dc and I don’t use it in the salt it carry two saltwater capable reels in the dual case side pocket that can be swapped out for either Calcutta if while traveling I have a failure that as of yet has never happened in 20 plus years with these) on Loomis 8.5’ 1021c’s and can use these for near anything FW to SW loaded with 30lb braid. Rod has a 3/8-4oz rating though I feel 4oz would be too much but Loomis rates it as such. One is the old Premier and the other is a IMX. Beware these are pricey and you can’t sit in them either but I consider them as my Swiss Army knife like fishing outfits. G LOOMIS HSR 1021C IMX 8'6" MAG-MEDIUM EX-FAST ACTION 10-20LB CASTING ROD <<<<this looks like the one. I've never seen "Extra Fast" before. With the wide range of throw weights this can't be a noodle rod, can it? I found this on Ebay for not too terrible a price. It'll be a late Christmas present for a very good boy. Thanks for the recommendation. ...and it's on it's way!
