Changing Braid

Was wondering how many seasons you go before changing your line. I know

there are a lot of factors involved in changing line - how often you fish, where

your fishing ( CCC ) etc...

I don't fish CCC because it's too far.  I usually cut off the first 15-20 ft and call it good.  I'll inspect it beyond what I cut but that's it.

When it starts getting low, I'll replace it.

I always flip it & use all that fresh braid that was on the bottom before replacing....

Having a line winder at your home helps a lot when doing this.  The tackle shop I go to charges $10-$15 to flip the line.

I use the same spool all season or at least until I lose too much line. If I lose too much, I put backing and keep using lol as long as its 200yds+ I’ll keep using it. Maybe flip it for next season. Any less than 200yards or what I feel like is less than 200 and I just buy a new spool of braid.

I let the wind knots help me decide,  lol

Never saw the point of flipping the braid,  if it is worn out the last thing I want is a fish of a lifetime taking me into bad line.

Indefinitely until line attrition dictates a new spool.

I have some reels with line over 5yrs at this point.

I have some small plastic wire spools with threaded rods and nuts and washers  to tighten with

I use a cordless drill and swap the line when its worn.

Next time I see you I'll give you a couple so you can reverse line quickly.

For plugging I get a few years out of braid, jigging it gets worn out sooner.
