What size penn slammer to pair with 9’ lamiglas carbon surf rod

If the rod is L to ML power, the 4500 pairs nicely. If it's a M-MH action the 5500 would be a better fit. I have a 9'2" GSB SKINNER 1 piece and fish it with both 4500 and 5500/TRQ5.

 The rod feels light w/the 4500, but more capable with the 5500/T5 also casts farther, but definitely heavier by almost a half pound.

Folks 250 yds is plenty from the surf for me.......in fact I never spool my reels like raider73 prefers. I like my spooled line at least 1/8th inch or more from the lip. Just a preference and opinion. I have never spooled a reel off the surf..........

Oops the carbon surf is 1/2 - 3 oz medium power I just ordered the 4500
