      Photos are from the Heights, Seaside Park, Midway, Berkeley, Downtown Toms River and Ocean Gate.
My mother was “given” access to the beach 2 days after the storm as a photographer for one of the local high schools. At 19 I was lucky to be the “plus one”.

Thanks for the pics! I will always remember that year. My Mother passed away that year before that storm hit, that was our favorite beach and boardwalk to visit. I actually met a girl online and our first date was going down there and spending the day helping at one of the high schools they turned into a shelter for the people who were put out of their homes. We separated clothes that were donated. I donated $100 of items from Walmart like waterless shampoo, toothpaste, and pillows. It felt very rewarding for me to give back to a place that gave me so many memories growing up with my Mother and family.

My poor pop pop had to be rescued from his recliner by the Mantolokin FD because he had three feet of water in his little house. The surf was one thing, the way those back bay lagoons were effected were another thing. Until that point I’ve never lived through nature being so intense.

Thanks for sharing.  I still remember driving ocean avenue with police every couple of miles with 50 gallon drums drilled out with fires to stay warm.  And the staging area of equipment and resources at Acme was amazing.

Great shots, and 8 years later, it's hard to believe that our governments answer is to pump sand on the beach, watch it wash away, pump more sand on the beach, etc.......

We lost one pier and a bunch of bulkhead, but didn't suffer near the property damage as all of the other towns on north or my south side of the river.

We did lose one home to fire from power service line going down.

Mostly we had trees and lines down.

This is a striking view from the following night.

@Ben Lippengreat shots.

I’ll try and find some more pics. Have to go through a few SD cards.

When the storm hit my mother owned property in Ocean Gate a block from the river which had to be knocked down. One bay front property on Good Luck Point which survived and was sold soon after. And one in Bayville on a lagoon which also still stands but was also sold.

Have a lot of pics from a local high school when it was used as a shelter. But to many faces to blur so those will not be posted.
