Any moving tide. Best is 2 hours before or after high/low. Slack tide is worst. Night is best, then Dawn/dusk. Full moon is best. Ideally middle of night outgoing tide during a full moon.

It entirely depends on the area your fishing....the structure that’s present, the bottom contour, and what kind of shoreline (inlet, open beach, back bay, channels, estuary, etc..)
