What do you want to know?

It's a fairly compact reel for a 4000 IMO. Compared to my Saltiga 5000 it's significantly smaller and much lighter. I've been very happy with it so far, mainly using it as my shore fishing reel or a boat spinning reel.

I'm going to pair it up with a light action moderate power 10' rod for the holdover stripers, mainly to throw lighter lures.

I have a I have 2 Stellas , a SW 3000HG and a SW 6000PG the 6000 . The 6000 is on my ODM Frontier X  9' 6" 3/4 to 4oz. and the 3000 is on my ODM DNA 8' 3/8 to 2oz. the 6000 is in my opinion a little large and heavy was thinking about the 2020 4000. I talked to Shimano and it is in between the two. The older 3000 to 4000 and 5000 to 6000 were just spool changes. but the new 2020 SW 4000HG is a whole new size. I only inshore and surf cast for Stripers. no boat fishing.

As info it shares a 5000 size body with the 5000 and 6000.

I don't read Japanese.

Neither do I, but I can copy paste into an online translator... LOL!

Anyway, far right column says “Body”, next column to left says “rotor size”, left one more column “spool type”.

If someone wants the true spec on Shimano reels, the Japanese site is the way to go...

That all said, the 4000 has a 4K spool and rotor on a 5k body.

Yes, that is the 2020 Stella, info right off their site...

And the current TwinPower SW (2015) follows the same logic, 4K, 5k and 6k all built on the same body.

Shimano USA is hit and miss with their info... I only rely on Shimano Japan!

I own the Stella SW 4000 XGC which has a ratio of 6:2:1

as far as a can tell Shimano US does not list the HG available in that size (which has 5:7:1)

regardless love mine - I have it on a 8.5 ft custom from Chris Aubut (local builder here in MA). I’m running 20 lb power pro maxquartro and it casts a mile and is super smooth

I think it would be fine on just about any 7.5-8.5 rod
