Can you change/modify painted plastic lures?

Does anyone do lures if you send them to them? I'm not 100% confident in my skills which are 0. How would you remove the paint that is already there without damaging the plastic?

Edit, I see alcohol bath works.

You may want to post this question on the Lure Builders forum.

It’s easy to change the color of plugs with spray paint.

Don’t worry about not having painting skills.

Buy some paint and develop your own skills.

And remember that a lure doesn’t have to have perfect paint to catch fish.

Have some fun with it.

Great points - my ugliest plugs are sometimes my most effective.

Just spray paint right over the old paint. Or use paint pens. Dont overthink it.  Truth is they will probably work just as well as is, but whatever makes you feel confident.

Edit, I see alcohol bath works.

Get a couple of spray bombs (cans), clear spray (aerosol) sand paper and some denatured alcohol, painters tape.

I cover the eyes with tape, then I sand/ rough the surface up, clean surface with Denatured alcohol then paint couple, put a couple coats on hang dry between coats. Once paint is dry hit with the couple coats of clear.

Real simple and very doable...

I use oil based paint and a brush.  Mostly make them all white or all black

Sometimes blue stripe if mullet or yellow with black spots if Bunker

They work fine

hit it with some sand paper and spray paint them. lures do not have to be perfect to catch fish. keep the can with you. if the color is catching it will wear off but you can easily repaint it.
