Almost every casting reel is usable but different applications and user skill. Even a 9/0 size is castable. Lol

For lures if you like abu, a 3500 4500 or 5500 size with a levelwind would be good to play with.

You also have a mountain of ow profile reels from all brands.

But generally concept, the lighter the lure.  A smaller lighter reel with lighter line does better.

The reel I show in this thread wont work well for 1.5oz, spool is too big or heavy. If you want good distance.

A non levelwind works great for distance but loses some convenience when reeling in.

what is best lure weight to cast longest cast with that reel ? and what is the distance ?

This is a reel design for bait fishing. Not what you're looking for. Use the forum search function for more. This questions has been asked and answered many times. Theres a few threads on the main forum page 1 with the same question.

Happy to say I like the reel. The capacity is much more then a standard 6500.

Usually with 14lb trit, a baited cast, I unload half the spool. About 250 yards total.

This one leaves me with 2/3 left to use.

So I'm eyeballing around 330-350 yards or so total on spool.

I noticed when loading line, 2/3 full, it was the same size as a loaded 6500 spool.

Will definitely use this reel more this season. And sidelines my 6500s temporarily.

nice pics beautiful reel
go ahead and pull some line off before you use the reel
A little normal fluff from a good cast and your line will contact the rear crossbar resulting in a big old birdsnest

i normally switch around a few Century rods depending on wide and tide.  i can easily hit 70-120 yards with 5 and cut bait if i feel like winding it up.

actual 70-120 yards. not , 'oh it looks like 100 with a plug yards'

I'll end this thread with these pictures.

The difference between a 6500 7000compact and a normal 7000.

6500 is the smallest one with the frame.

Quite a substantial difference.

You don't have to end it.

Very good discussion.
