Blue fish and Spinfisher VI

I have two questions today:

1. I didn't gut or ice bluefish I caught for 3 hours, I only bled and washed it. Now I'm filleting it and noticing it has a weird smell. Does bluefish typically smell weird? I recognize it, I just can't remember if it was another bluefish before.

2. Spinfisher VI 4500 feels a little tight when I'm reeling lures, more resistance than my cheapo plastic reel. It definitely isn't effortless. Is it supposed to be this way?

bluefish def have their own smell, like a fluke has it's smell.

I know both of them well.

as for the reel I have no idea since I don't do spinning reels.

I don't know if they are sealed but, maybe some saltwater got in?

how does it spin with no load on it?

I can't speak for the 4500 but my spinfisher VI 6500 is pretty smooth. Not smooth like my Shimanos, but the handle will go through 7 or 8 rotations on its own if I give it a good push. It's IPX5 sealed so that might inhibit the movement a bit.

Cheapo plastic reels with poor tolerances that shed all the bearing oil will free spin better

Spinfisher has 2 rubber seals and greased bearings at all locations.

Plus additional rubber seals that contact the gear axle on both sides and at the main shaft.. Still light turning.. But adds some slight resistance.
