It has a serial number of 92xx, and according  to the previous owner who had conversations with Craig at VS and confirmed that it’s USA made.

I read above your interested in a vs300. Here’s some pics of mine with serial 249. It’s never been fished as to my knowledge. It’s just to big for what I need as I’ve gone back to boat fishing.

Wow that is a very nice reel, Is the drag cap original to the reel? It seems like it has a different finish.

I’ve noticed that as well, I’m not entirely sure. It’s been sitting on a shelf in a bag for years. I’ve never had the urge to use it. Comes with a black VS bag no box.
