"We rarely publish editorials signed by all the editors," said Dr. Eric Rubin, editor-in-chief of the medical journal and an author of the new editorial. "This crisis has produced a test of leadership. With no good options to combat a novel pathogen, countries were forced to make hard choices about how to respond. Here in the United States, our leaders have failed that test. They have taken a crisis and turned it into a tragedy."

"Anyone else who recklessly squandered lives and money in this way would be suffering legal consequences. Our leaders have largely claimed immunity for their actions. But this election gives us the power to render judgment.  When it comes to the response to the largest public health crisis of our time, our current political leaders have demonstrated that they are dangerously incompetent. We should not abet them and enable the deaths of thousands more Americans by allowing them to keep their jobs."

NEJM joins Scientific American in calling for trump's defeat: "Scientific American has never endorsed a presidential candidate in its 175-year history. This year we are compelled to do so. We do not do this lightly. The evidence and the science show that Donald Trump has badly damaged the U.S. and its people—because he rejects evidence and science. The most devastating example is his dishonest and inept response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which cost more than 190,000 Americans their lives by the middle of September. He has also attacked environmental protections, medical care, and the researchers and public science agencies that help this country prepare for its greatest challenges. That is why we urge you to vote for Joe Biden, who is offering fact-based plans to protect our health, our economy and the environment. These and other proposals he has put forth can set the country back on course for a safer, more prosperous and more equitable future."

You're doin a heckuva job donnie

Editor in chief is a democrat donor.

No surprise.

They should include that info though.

Love to see them debate the Doctors that advise Trump.

They always act like Trump is providing the actual care.

its also a bit charming to think that someone thinks that any Biden/Harris voters have a clue as to the NEJM

That is true. Unless you are a subscriber most people never talk about NEJM. It is sad to see this periodical get so politically biased. The NEJM had previously retorted an article that had made up science. The Lancet as well. The Lancet is more respected however. I am hard pressed to recall political bias as a subscriber in the past. The NEJM is like Fly Rod and Reel no one is going to take this too seriously.
