Spinfisher SSVI 4500 Conversion to Manual Bail

4 posts in this topic

I posted this to Reel/Repair and Maintenance yesterday and thought I may have better luck at finding a solution here.

I ran into a couple of problems converting my SSVI to manual bail.

I tried removing the “trip lever” (part 28). It sort of worked, however the reel became very resistant when turning.  (The trip lever exits to the inner part of the rotor and connects to the rotor brake and rotor brake spring... have a feeling this may be why it gets so resistant when the trip lever is removed?)

I also tried removing the “housing slope” (part 1E)  but that didn’t help either.

Any insight would be appreciated.

thanks,

-Chris

Chris,

When you removed the trip lever did you take out parts 28B and 28H as well?  If those parts are still present there will be some resistance when turning.
