beret
Folks what are your feelings regarding some form of gutter guards. Read many reviews that they are a waste of money and not worth it............not to mention they are extremely expensive. Quick check they are more expensive that the new gutters I plan on having installed. As info I have a two story home and many trees. Appreciate any and all feedback. Thanks. JimW
The foam filter type suck. Great if you want a moss farm. I have some gutters with expanded aluminum strips that tuck Up under the shingle and are screwed to gutter edge that work great. Stuff slides off as they’re inclined "I have ... put a lump of ice into an equal quantity of water ... if a little sea salt be added to the water we shall produce a fluid sensibly colder than the ice was in the beginning, which has appeared a curious and puzzling thing to those unacquainted with the general fact."- Joseph Black
IsmailG
With all the got damn maple trees surrounding my property gutter guards have been a great investment. My gutters were clogged to **** every spring after the helicopters came down, no more.

SB59
Waste of money if you don't have trees.
MartyK
I still get leaves on top of the guard, but they're far easier to clean out. Marty
Rick M
I had the company that advertises on TV to come out to my place on the Cape...they would install them for $4000 !!! I almost crapped when I heard the price. I spent less than $250 on the Costco website and installed them myself. High quality, easy to install, and they keep the pine needles out. Once you register, they send you a little brush you can attach to a pole and sweep them off a couple of times a year. No brainer.

The leaves, twigs and other things that fall off the tree fall on the roof and come down on the screen at the edge of the roof line and that clogs the screen up. The rain goes right over the screen after a while and then the gutters get all mildew. Black and dirty. The best thing to do is remove the tree and then you won't need gutter guard. My two cents after dealing with them over the years. And I installed a lot of gutters over the years. NoTrees, No Problem. Peter D
ccb
You will pay three to four times the price and it won't work. Your better off paying someone to clean your gutters every fall after the leaves fall. Peter D
chitala383
I Have the aluminum "k style" ones. They were on the house when I bought it 8 years ago. I say they're awesome. Last year I pulled them up in a few spots to see if the gutters need to be cleaned but they were Damn near spotless. My neighbor doesn't have them and he has to clean out his gutters twice a year. These are the style that I have
Highlander1
Gutters should be offered with gutter guards for a reasonable cost. They are expensive, not sure how effective. I have a ranch style house so its only around 8-9 foot high, twice a year, takes about 2 hours to do it right. Worth $1500? jmlandru
Yellowjackets are different than you, Marc. They don't bite. No one expects the Spanish Inquisition.
