Stradic FL Bail Wire

I recently purchased a Stradic FL and I noticed something when I had my Stradic stored next to my other reels. The bail wire of my new Stradic is curved down, as opposed to up. I have seen other reviews of the Stradic and didn't notice the bail wire being bent like mine either. And, my other reel's bail wires are not curved like. I wanted to get some feedback to find out the following: 1) Is this how the bail wire of the Stradic FL is supposed to look? 2) Is this even an issue?

Thank you for the quick response, good to know that I'm not going crazy. Any recommendation on what to do next? Reached out to Shimano through email and call - no answer.

Looks bent, could've came from the factory like that, could've happened when it was handled by the shop, could've happened in use etc, it realistically does not affect anything. I've seen some used reels with wires bent much worse to no ill affect, in theory if you reel the bail shut the perfect bail wire is supposed to lead the line into the roller, but you should be closing it by hand anyways lol. As for shimano, it's not something their warranty would cover imo, but if it's new and recent enough then I'm sure you could exchange it at the place of purchase if it bothers you

crush up and sprinkle a viagra pill on it before each outing...

Unfortunately..that's not how it's supposed to be.

And if it took a hit in shipping or was dropped.....it could have caught the top of the spool...which would drive the pawl into the worm...which could cause a premature failure down the road in the oscillation system.

I'd contact whoever you purchased it from or shimano directly.   Not a reel I'd want to keep

All my shimanos have a different bent style in the bail wire. One thing is for sure, they should all bent downward to force the line to roll toward the roller naturally. Path of least resistance.  I don't see an issue here with the op's reel unless he's having actual trouble with it.

Hahah if only it was that easy, thanks Scoob! Just got off the phone with a Shimano rep - he didnt seem concerned at all. But, I am gonna send it down to SC tomorrow just to be safe.

Not that anyone cares or should care, but here is an update. Got a call from Shimano the other morning with them saying that they are not in the business of replacing reels and that they bent the bail wire back into place (I could have done that). To me, not really sure why they wouldn't just replace a brand new reel that clearly had some mishandling. Hopefully there will be no issues coming up, we'll see.

At least you have a service logged in their system.  If something related fails down the road you have that as evidence to the source.

Its sad but your lack of replacement likely is from abuse of warranty service by others.  Not that its right but many people abuse reels and rods then send them back claiming defect.  I think a repetitive dose of that can make some of these warranty techs a bit cynical.

Hopefully it was not a hard knock and nothing else was damaged to fail later.

IMO its  new and if it comes in other than in spec condition it should be replaced as its just good customer relations.  We do not need Shimano service becoming Daiwa-esque.

All great points, thank you. All I know is other companies, such as Tsunami, would have a replacement lined up for me in a matter of 2 days. Although, that may just speak to Tsunami's great Customer Service.

Yes there  certain companies that make there CS and warranties part of there positive image ...marketing I guess you could call it.  But we all like to be treated that way.  You think others would learn.

Obviously the funds to offer that kind of service cone from somewhere.  Basically in markup over product net cost.  But as customers I think 99% are willing and happy to have that be it on the lower, mid, or high end.

St Croix, Star, Okuma , Tsumani to name a few off the top of my head.
