BNickW
So a couple times a season I’ll tend to catch a couple Tog on a vertical jig (diamond jig, butterfly jig, a47, epoxy jigs etc) while bottom fishing. Not terribly surprising. Most fish will try to eat anything smaller then themselves. This season I’ve caught a ton for some reason. Got two keepers today on butterfly jigs. A lot of the time they are foul hooked so I’m guessing they are swiping at it. Nice 18.5” one today, hooks right in the upper lip. I guess it’s a sign I should get some crabs on the line soon. GP100
I've caught a number of tog when jigging for black sea bass. Got them on diamond jigs, heavy minnows, deadly dicks, and probably some others. I may have foul hooked some but mostly legit hookups. Of course there is no comparison to using crabs, either on a jig or tog rigs, but they do hit baitless jigs. BNickW
The Riddler
Same here. Waiting for the Albies to pop again, drop some metal or epoxy and occasionally get one. BNickW
BNickW
Have either of you noticed an uptick this season?

There is more sea bass now than years back in New England than previous years.
BNickW
Oh for sure. I don’t ever recall seeing any BSB in RI waters when I was a kid.
