When I started building rods I became pretty aware of the overall pretty poor craftsmanship of a lot of blank suppliers and rod companies. I've seen St. Croix legends with more bubbles in the finish than in a freshly poured beer. Other rod shafts so warbled they'd make a pigtail look like an arrow, guides mounted skewed, and I've had a century ($500 blank, surf machine) with a ferrule that fit worse than Mudhole's budget blanks.

Some get it really right, blank wise. I've seen only a couple blanks that were actually dead straight though.

This isn't that surprising. It is still pretty rediculous that lamiglas screwed this up.
