How do I get the rotten squid smell out of my cooler?

I use white vinegar after all my fishing trips and it works well.  I’d try that first then the bleach.    Let it soak for a day or two.  I dilute it to about 50/50.   Just rough estimate.

I used to fish with a commercial rod and reeler who never did anything more to his fish box than sprinkle Pine Sol into it and then rinse it with a hose.

Pine sol kills felines.  Just  PSA, if you have cats.

Bleach and a Dawn-type dish detergent.  Fill the cooler with water containing that mix, let it sit for a few hours, scrub, rinse, and let it sit in the sun.  Might have to repeat.

I'll be doing that later today.  Usually keep the cooler on the boat, but I brought some tuna and mahi home Saturday, so it's cooler-cleaning time.

You dont.  Your son does.

Agree - your son combines baking soda and vinegar, then scrubs and rinses.  Repeat as necessary.
