They claim because gas usage is down 37 percent because of covid, they had no choice. so next summer when things hopefully are back to normal, will they lower the tax rate ?

Never. I have never seen a tax lowered. If I recall correctly the nj sales tax was supposed to be a temporary measure. Shocking the number of people who actually believed that lie.rather like the tolls on the parkway that people were told would disappear when the cost of building it was paid for... just another lie
