BIDEN & HARRIS - FURIOUSLY MASKDEBATING

Rate this topic

Biden-Harris took on President Trump and demand the imposition of a nationwide mask requirement for anyone outdoors with this to last for at least three months. They made the demand and then refused to take questions from the press. The balance of their remarks sounded like the Cliff Notes version of what Trump has done to date.

Why did Harris-Biden chose masks to be the first policy item with which to confront President Trump?

How much polling did their handlers conduct to determine that a "national mask policy" was a potential winning idea for them?

I don’t mean winning as in winning the election, I mean winning the news cycle. From now until the election, think of the campaign in the terms of daily chunks and this time will be less stressful and easier to understand. That is, each campaign will seek to win the day's news cycle, garner headlines, and let the competition-obsessed Media report the day's "winner". And given the TDS of the DEMedia, Trump has to win each day's cycle by an undeniable margin to make it impossible for the DEMedia to deny.

So let’s chat about the Harris-Biden team deciding that maskdebating was the issue of importance.

First, it is classic progressive dogma that the federal government can dictate how 336million people in 50 states in 3,007 counties should lead their lives. The Progs thrive on power and getting the people, no sheeple, to bow to their wishes. Like the baby elephant with the chain on its leg, replaced by a rope when it is grown, the Progs want to condition people to obeying governmental dictates. A national mash mandate is such a dictate, disguised as smart social policy and healthcare.

But, second, what does the science on masks say? There are two angles here, masks to protect the wearer from others and masks to protect others from the wearer. This is a distinction with a difference given the SCIENCE on masks, which seems to be mixed. The recent study on masks was designed to determine the best masks to protect others from your exhailants.

Masks with valves got low marks because the valves close when you inhale but allow your exhale to escape, unfiltered. Poor for protecting others yet you see them everywhere.

Facial coverings (not a mask) made with a single layer of cloth, including neck gators, are poor because they can actually create a finer mist on the outside from a sneeze or cough. The study found such facial coverings are actually more of a threat to others nearby than no mask or more complex covering at all. The cheapest masks, like those at the gas station or supermarket checkout aisle, are the worst even if convenient.

Third, Harris-Biden want to force the entire nation to wear masks, even when outside and even when alone. Walk the streets anywhere, wear a mask, even if no one is around. Jog, mask. Gardening, mask. Chopping wood, mask. Raking leaves, mask. Casting the surf, mask. Cruising out to Plum Gut, mask. Climbing a mountain, mask. If you are out of doors, the Democratic Party candidates want you wearing a mask, no matter what you are doing, whether alone, they mean you.

Fourth, how could such a requirement come to pass? Passing of a law in a split Congress? Executive order? How long will legal challenges take to resolve?

Fifth, enforcement, who is going to enforce this? A federal law, mandating restrictions on 336mm people, will be enforced by whom?

Local law enforcement? FBI? DHS? If local police, who is going to fund that?

Who is going to administer fines?

Who is going to prosecute offenders who refuse to pay fines?
How will prosecutions be funded?

Sixth, if Harris were President today, oops, Biden, and she issued an EO tomorrow, how long until the first legal challenge was mounted? How long, for something Biden thinks is imperative, would it be tied up in court? What will come first, legal clearance or a vaccine?

This is pure politics and of the worst type. What the Democrats are demanding is nearly impossible, yet the DEMedia sets it up as a challenge to the President's policy. What goes unmentioned is that for weeks Trump has been advising Americans to wear masks when social distancing is not practical or possible.

Trump is his worst enemy and should have ignored Harris-Biden and not addressed the mask issue. Today he should have made the ME peace accord the only topic of the day and he would have crushed the news cycle. Instead, he had to split time with the Dems and walked away with a draw.

Also, you made the statement about “winning the day” about two weeks ago. Who has won how many days since?

Let’s take yesterday: It should have been a day to tout the Israeli/UAE accord, and rightly so. Then Trump decides to go back to his birtherism roots, and ruins his day, taking the wind out of the peace agreement sails. What the hell was he thinking?

He called on state governors to mandate it, not the feds, so several of your points require revision.

Thirty four states already require masks be worn. So he’s preaching to the balance of the states?

How exactly does this work if governors or the state legislature does not wish to comply? So how does he compel uptake by these states?

CBS News:

Former Vice President Joe Biden and Senator Kamala Harris are calling for a three-month nationwide mask mandate to limit the spread of coronavirus.

During a briefing by public health experts in Wilmington, Biden, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, told reporters that all the nation's governors should require this.

"Every single American should be wearing a mask when they're outside for the next three months, at a minimum. Every governor should mandate mandatory mask-wearing," Biden said, suggesting that widespread mask use could save 40,000 lives over the next three months. "Let's institute a mask mandate nationwide starting immediately, and we will save lives."

Trump is an ignoramus who can’t control his own message. Today should have been his, but he ended up with a draw because he dignified the Biden maskdebation with a reply.

Weeks ago I said the family needed to bring in a Bannon-like figure who could control the message and keep Trump focused on what he needs to focus upon. These deviations and petty fights are not helping him. If there is one time he needs to be presidential, it is now. Alas, his ego just might doom him this time around.

BTW, speaking of furious maskdebation, a health agency in one state (WI ?) has mandate that its employees where masks all the time they are indoors, even if alone, when on vide9 calls like Zoom.

Maskdebation.

It's real simple. Mask wearing right now is a good thing. It makes those two look good in the public eye.

I agree on the "sheeple" thought too. There are many out there that need to be told what to do by the gov't:howdy:

I’m just pointing out that most of your talking points are based on a false premise.
Points 1,3,4,5,6 are invalidated by the facts.
In the spirit of honesty, can you agree with that?

Two weeks ago I said he needed to bring in Bannon. So we are in agreement there. It was during some thread on the self-enriching Parscale; a typical grifter.
Sloppy Steve must be shaking his head at the Christy lackey Stepian and the day after pill drink serving Miller.

And while we are at it, what’s up with this Juggs Deer spokesperson who is always in print, does he actually help anyone? Maybe he should get on the shows/airwaves and try to get one or two “undecideds” to leave their house and vote for his guy.

Well judging by what we have seen so far. If Trump came out and promoted mask wearing, they would immediately be against it. I can hear them now.....the president wants to force you to wear a mask even if you have a preexisting condition. This was a calculated statement the two made, and they think a majority will agree with them. To be honest, many will vote for them because of it. Never mind the other things that come along with the deal. They will be able to make all those other people wear their masks and that makes them feel good.

Our sheriff down here not only does not require his deputies to wear masks, he forbids them from wearing masks. Visitors to the sheriff’s office are not allowed to enter wearing a mask. He says criminals are using these masks to disguise themselves while committing criminal acts. He thinks we should be able to identify them. I agree with him.
