Any one shoot the Ruger 450 ranch gun for deer? I shot a buck using 260 grain Federal bonded soft point bullets. My hunting partner processsed the deer and said it had a lot of fragmentation thru the meat. There is only a few options of bullets available - 250 to 300 grain . Any suggestions?

i'm not familiar with 450 but i handload 45-70.

I am satisfied with hornady bullets as a factory load.

Hornady makes a 450 bushmaster FTX bullet in 250 gr.

Ftx bullets are flat shooters and well constructed.

Or look into hornady american whitetail brand.

Good luck

Thank you , originally I only saw a 300 grain Hornady but I will look for those bullets. My hunting partner processed my deer and he said the amount of meat lost due to the fragmentation was substantial. I didn't get to see myself how bad it was but he had to cut out a lot of waste.

Take a look at black butterfly ammunition for other choices. They do more of a custom side of loads. A bit more expensive. You’ll see lighter weights to heavier weight loads.
