George Orwell- A PG Public Service Announcement

I have seen a couple avatars lately by unabashedly conservative posters that either have the image of George Orwell or reference his name or use some of his neologisms in posts or reference 1984 or Animal Farm.

In these times, citing Orwell is absolutely apt.  Indeed, since 2017, Orwell's 1984 has gone through many more printings than in past years.

But so you know.

Orwell was a Democratic Socialist.   Anti-Stalinist, Anti-Authoritarian, Anti-Totalitarian.

But a Democratic Socialist to his death.

This Public Service Announcement was brought to you by, Moonbat Blind Politics.

Carry on.

Animal Farm and 1984 were not written to promote Democratic Socialism. They were written solely to bash communism and promote forms of democracy coupled with capitalism. I have both books sitting on my shelf. You are welcome to borrow them.

I said no such thing.    Did you even read the OP?   Or are you throwing in "alternative facts."

1984 was indeed a warning on totalitarianism and authoritarianism using Stalinist imagery (look at the description of Big Brother).

I simply find it ironic that some conservative PG posters seem to love a democratic socialist.

I think you are misinterpreting the use of Orwell here. This is simply that the current democrat party is Marxist/communist/nazi right now. Orwell projectcted what would happen if these types take over. That’s it simply......

The Dem Party is Stalinist?  The Dem Party is Nazi?  Which is it NAZI or Communist?  Stalin?  Hitler?

Ok LOL.   They may be a lot of things, many of which caused me to leave the party 20 years ago, but they are not quite that.

Have a nice night.  I am fishing early.  I will leave you with these to noodle on.

Every line of serious work that I have written since 1936 has been written, directly or indirectly against totalitarianism and for democratic Socialism as I understand it.

We cannot win the war without introducing Socialism, nor establish Socialism without winning the war.

Quote

The difference between Socialism and capitalism is not primarily a difference of technique. One cannot simply change from one system to the other as one might install a new piece of machinery in a factory, and then carry on as before, with the same people in positions of control. Obviously there is also needed a complete shift of power. New blood, new men, new ideas – in the true sense of the word, a revolution.

George Orwell The Lion and the Unicorn: Socialism and the English Genius.

This is explained by the different factions within the democrat party. There is the Antifa faction that is borrowing from the Nazi play book. Then there is the BLM faction that is borrowing from Stalin. Then there is the progressive left that has more of a Chicom world view of dominance, coupling some capitalistic financing with a subjected people. All the various factions share from a pool of propagandist training and vary the verbiage style to what is needed. :wee:

Psssst, universal healthcare doesn't make the U.S. of 'Murica Marxist/communist.

Japan is one of the top capitalistic countries in the world. Guess what? They have universal healthcare. And because they do, it makes the U.S. whine that they can't compete with Japan's auto industry.

Germany is one of the top captialistic countries in the world. Guess what? They have universal healthcare. And in many ways they have better manufacturing than the U.S.

Fox News and the Republican party scream communism and Cuba and China and Venezuela because they know their base is too stupid and too lazy to put down their Budweisers, get off the couch and research what communism truly is.

Hint, a capitalistic country with social security and universal healthcare ain't communism.

All one in the same........

And BTW, Communism has never been achieved. The correct term would be socialist dictatorship.

"Japan has a long history of keeping a tight lid on immigration. Unlike many other countries such as the United Kingdom, the United States, or Australia, there is no official immigration policy. In Japanese society, the subject is almost taboo."             Workpermit.com

It's easier if you only take care of your own citizens, not to mention all the restrictions that go along with Japans healthcare.  No one every mention those.

Seems Orwell knew his party well, and where they were headed.  Too bad they didn't heed his warning.

And when is the last time you heard of someone flying to Germany or Japan for cutting edge medical care?

If you mean, Stalin and Hitler were both authoritarian, ok.

If you mean Nazi and Commie are the same, I will beg to differ.

Nonetheless, the point of the OP remains:  The irony of conservatives holding up Orwell as some sort of icon.
