What kind of rig is the best for fluke fishing

I have been fishing for fluke but just recent hear about using a bucktail with a teaser. i always just used a sinker and a single hook with the a strip of squid. I am sure there are all different kinds of rigs that people use. Which one do rig do you use? Are there any other kinds of rigs that you think are better than using a bucktail and a teaser?

Just a bucktail with a piece of sea robin, fluke belly, dogfish, squid and/or gulp. No need to make it more complicated by adding more hooks or whirly gigs - they eat the bucktail/meat combo just like they always have

I started using the “wonder rig” this year with success. Basically a bucktail plus teaser setup, but the teaser has a hook for live killies.

What do you do when you the current is too heavy? is there a way to use a sinker to stay on the bottom or do you just have to use really heavy bucktails?

When the current is really heavy - for me 6 oz and above - use a chicken rig. Sinker on the bottom and two dropper loops - one about 6 inch from the sinker and another about 18” from the sinker. On the loops, attach a 5/0 gami baitholder with gulp or Tsunami glass minnow or any other teaser

If you are hunting large fish, then just the bucktail tipped with something. The teaser catches quantity, typically not qualify. Plus when you remove the teaser it reduces drag which means you can go with a lighter bucktail (always best) to hold bottom

Never tried this, I have been in situations where I probably could have used it, I never have luck with bucktails over 5/6 ozs, I have 2 questions:

1. How long do you make your dropper loops? 12 inches? 

2. Instead of dropper loops, can you just do a double overhand knot, I'm thinking it is easier to control the length to make them similar?  Wondering if anyone knew of any issues with this.

3. How do you fish it? Jig it?

In the bays I will use a bucktail tipped with a Gulp grub (either 5" or 6") and a Tsunami Silicon Glass Minnow teaser about a foot above the bucktail. I typically tip the teaser with a 5" Gulp mullet, nemesis, or grub - I find myself varying the teaser bait and I tend to find that the smaller the bait, the smaller the fluke. If I am surfcasting, I will use a baitholder hook for the teaser and tip it with a Gulp 4" mullet or a Gulp jerk shad.
