Delmarva Fishin' Reports - August 2020

As always, this is the place for your reports... as little or as much detail as you care to share, with hopefully a good bit less focus posted on exact spots, times, and locations. Any and all word from the local waters welcome here, and "no fish" reports are welcome as well; always good to have gotten out there at least, wasn't it?

;)

... Wait its August already?

Lots of blues in the 15-18in range at night at IRI. It’s been very random though. sometimes they are there in the incoming sometimes it’s dead slack. Unfortunately there was a dbag boater at a rather popular spot who had no courtesy at all continually get into the shore guys casting zone. And he was there all week long doing the same ****. PA navy man. Anyways other than that IRI has been slow for me. Saw a few guys pick up some short stripes on minnows. I tried the canal out a few times with nothing to report back of note other than a few 18” schoolies. Thinking it’s time to break the kayak back out because I’ve had a rough go from shore.

They are back, one class is 12" the others are slots.  It's been a fun last two days.  This could be the start of 2013 all over again, I sure hope so.

Nice trout mixed in, couple small blacks and schoolie rock plus a few surprise sandbar sharks made for a good time.

Way to go, Krabill!  I'm assuming this is the backside of Assateague/Chincoteague, or Chesapeake side?  Congrats.  How big was the largest slot red and the largest speck?

Seaside, the slot fish are 25" trout 18-22"  Caught one slot red 15 miles from the other yesterday so they are spread out, and for sure not thick, but the bait is here and they followed it.

I did see a slot red come from the Chesapeake this weekend though, good sign all around

Can anyone recommend a surf setup for this time of year? I normally fish around Chincoteague in late fall, but not too often in the summer.

I have pretty much any surf setup you can imagine, but not too much space on the vehicle due to kids’ stuff.

Those that have recently gone on the OSV MD side of AI.... Just saw an alert that the OSV will be closing for over-wash, but the swells are 2.5-1.5ft and no wind...

Is the beach that narrow/flat in the top half?

I find this strange, and worried for this time next month, if a whiting farts, it will cause the beach to close?

...I know its new moon, but still, if it over-washes during new/full moon cycle with no swell or wind.... there isn't much sand.
