red gill teaser alternative

I read about Red Gill teasers in several surf casting books.

from searching the net it looks like they were manufactured by a UK company but are now hard to find.

I tie my own fur + feather teasers, so not looking for fly patterns.

so my question: what soft plastic alternatives are recommended for the Red Gill?

Any small soft plastic grub or paddletail will do.  Wrap a hook with thread, superglue the grub, and fish.

The late Ken Gerhardt (CaseyGhee here) used to fish a small plastic twister tail on a hook with his flyrod. He rarely bothered to tie a fly.

thank you all for your input.

most of the time I tie in a dropper loop into the leader and then thread the loop through the eye of the hook.

but I recently saw a video from On The Water where a pre-tied teaser rig used a smaller TA clip to attach the teaser to the eye of the barrel swivel.

my next question: when surf casting, how do you prefer to attach the teaser to your leader?
