the “usual”... clam, squid.  if from shore try around rocks, bridges, structure... use smaller hooks / size 6 ish - but strong.  small pieces of bait too... they have small mouths. i use a typical dropper rig w/ a 1 oz bank sinker on the bottom and the hook about a foot up on a dropper loop if targeting triggers.

 

great summer bar b q fish.

We've caught a few around Woods Hole in late July and august. Bycatch while targeting scup. Usually they come up on a piece of squid.

 

I've also seen a few while snorkeling near shore. Always around rocks and boulders.

tons of them s of long island in the summer.

I’m in marshfield, highly doubt we would get them north of the cape, but will definitely travel around to find some
