Oregon politician confesses to penning 'anonymous' racist letter to himself
He claimed to have discovered the hate-filled missive in his mailbox on June 23

An Oregon politician has confessed to penning a racist letter to himself after he initially claimed it was anonymously sent to him, authorities said.

Jonathan Lopez, who is Latino and was a recent commissioner candidate in Umatilla County, claimed he discovered the hate-filled missive in his mailbox on June 23, the East Oregonian reported.

On his now-deleted Facebook account, he shared a photo of the letter, which said that Lopez and other “Mexicans” were “not welcome here,” according to local news station KEPR-TV.

“Don’t waste your time trying to become anything in this county we will make sure you never win and your family suffers along with all the other f–king Mexicans in the area!” the letter said.

Lopez wrote in the post that he “holds no resentment for whomever wrote this,” the outlet reported.

“I’m just simply heartbroken for the lack of knowledge, education and respect missing,” he said. “I pray for you and wish you prosperity in your life.”

But when authorities followed-up with Lopez about the alleged incident, he confessed to writing the letter himself.

“Our investigation has shown that Mr. Lopez wrote the letter himself and made false statements to the police and on social media,” Hermiston Police Chief Jason Edmiston told the East Oregonian.

“The end result is a verbal and written admission by Mr. Lopez that the letter was fabricated.”

Edmiston said the case would be forwarded to the Umatilla County District Attorney’s office for review on charges for initiating a false report.

“This investigation is particularly frustrating as we are in the midst of multiple major investigations while battling a resource shortage due to the current pandemic,” Edmiston told the outlet.

“The time spent on this fictitious claim means time lost on other matters, not to mention it needlessly adds to the incredible tension that exists in our nation today.”

Lopez — who lost a primary election for the commissioner seat in May — claimed that he never intended to file a police report about the bogus letter.

“I never meant to file a report, it just kind of spiraled out,” Lopez told the newspaper.

I didn't see this post,I posted the guy's "confession" in another post,I will add it here.

HERMISTON, Ore. — The former Umatilla County Commissioner Candidate that reportedly admitted to police he sent himself a racist letter after claiming he received it is speaking out.
In an interview with Action News Jonathan Lopez says he regrets writing the letter and is very sorry.
"I do apologize for what I did I do understand and accept that it was incorrect or wrong, by no means or way did I want to gain the election." Lopez said.
It was only a few weeks ago when he shared the hate-filled letter on his public Facebook page, claiming he received it in his mailbox.
Lopez has since removed the Facebook page.
After investigating the incident Hermiston Police say Lopez confessed to writing the racist letter and filing a false report.
When asked why he wrote the letter this is what Lopez had to say.
"I could say many reasons and of course everybody's opinions could be different but I have no excuse for it but I can just express how I was feeling and what's been going on through my mind and I'm not asking that that justifies what I did I've just been having hard time since February." Lopez said.
While Lopez admits the letter came from a painful place, he doesn't think his letter stunt discredits future racist actions.
"It cannot be used as something to discredit any other possible form or way or act of racial issues reason being is law enforcement their job is to secure and protect everyone. If they start thinking because of one bad apple, in this case one bad situation the rest are bad then they are not going to do their job properly or correct and you know that's not what they are here for." Lopez said.
Police say Lopez could be charged with a misdemeanor for the incident.

He needs to be criminally charged on the federal level. A hate crime against himself.

I think that Jessie is still not locked up, right?

Only whitey get's locked up for this sort of crime.  Just another flavor of reverse discrimination, right?

See they make these hoaxes but forget most investigators (Detectives) can smell BS a thousand miles a way. They pull video, ping phone towers and can tell when you are lying to them when you are being interviewed. He should be charged with wasting  the tax payers dime and filing a false police report.
