I Thought BLM Was About Police Brutality?

Rate this topic

This is taken directly from the BLM website, word for word.  I thought BLM was about police brutality?  That's what Don Lemon argued with Terry Crews about on CNN.  Comrades? Cisgender privilege?  When will people open their eyes to this organization?

"We are unapologetically Black in our positioning. In affirming that Black Lives Matter, we need not qualify our position. To love and desire freedom and justice for ourselves is a prerequisite for wanting the same for others.

We see ourselves as part of the global Black family, and we are aware of the different ways we are impacted or privileged as Black people who exist in different parts of the world.

We are guided by the fact that all Black lives matter, regardless of actual or perceived sexual identity, gender identity, gender expression, economic status, ability, disability, religious beliefs or disbeliefs, immigration status, or location.

We make space for transgender brothers and sisters to participate and lead.

We are self-reflexive and do the work required to dismantle cisgender privilege and uplift Black trans folk, especially Black trans women who continue to be disproportionately impacted by trans-antagonistic violence.

We build a space that affirms Black women and is free from sexism, misogyny, and environments in which men are centered.

We practice empathy. We engage comrades with the intent to learn about and connect with their contexts.

We make our spaces family-friendly and enable parents to fully participate with their children. We dismantle the patriarchal practice that requires mothers to work “double shifts” so that they can mother in private even as they participate in public justice work.

We disrupt the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure requirement by supporting each other as extended families and “villages” that collectively care for one another, especially our children, to the degree that mothers, parents, and children are comfortable.

We foster a queer‐affirming network. When we gather, we do so with the intention of freeing ourselves from the tight grip of heteronormative thinking, or rather, the belief that all in the world are heterosexual (unless s/he or they disclose otherwise).

We cultivate an intergenerational and communal network free from ageism. We believe that all people, regardless of age, show up with the capacity to lead and learn.

We embody and practice justice, liberation, and peace in our engagements with one another."

I think you are confusing the phrase black lives matter,

with whatever group holds the title.

what has you upset though?

all the empathy and understanding too much for you?

Many of us understand just fine what BLM really is.

Perhaps if you opened your eyes and your mind you might just see it as well.

Better copy each page, as they change it every minute as stuff comes out.

All mention of Susan Rosenberg is now gone from the Thousand Currents website.

The more they are exposed, the more they will attempt to hide their true mission.

BLM started in response to hispanic George Zimmerman.  Had nothing to with cops.

The whole “it’s about cops” argument from the BLM apologists was leftist spin trying to justify why they don’t care about the appalling level of black on black violence

The support for a false narrative, and the lack of understanding about what this organization is all about is what I find disturbing.  People like you have been completely suckered into supporting it as proof of your virtue signaling.  I have no empathy for anything in that "mission statement".

People can understand the sentiment of the phrase black lives matter and still find still find the organization abhorrent.

Why can't you seem to understand that?

This whole thing is about the fact that a Harvard/Hill poll came out showing that 35% of black men support President Trump

The left can't be having that so took full advantage of the Floyd thing to blow this up to its maximum potential.

These are the same mongoloids who think the Affordable Care Act meant affordable care. Naming legislation outside it's true intent is the oldest trick in the book, yet there are those who are still easily fooled by labels. Mostly children.

You assume a father in the house would change that.

There is no doubt, it depends on the father, but, generally, kids are better off with one in the home.

Marcellus Wiley has a good take on it.
