Anise

Bass have some of the best fish olfactory senses, right up there with catfish and salmon. Their mouths and noses are somewhat connected, which is rare for fish. If it smells it can attract fish.
I know I like my Annisette, Pernod, and Ouzo

Gonna try anise on artificials off the yak today in LIS. When I trolled tubes years ago, Mikes or Smelly Jelly was always squirted into the rubber tubes. Can’t say if it helped, but I would catch several hundred bass per season.

I try not to get caught up with this type of folklore...but often when a bite slows down, I switch to a freshly juiced GULP and the bite picks back up.

Perhaps it is true... "the sauce is the boss"

I’m on the fence after having tried it a fair amount of times. I think the old school Mikes and Smelly Jelly attractants worked better.

Never tried anise but if fish are being picky when fly fishing, procure has turned the fish up! I know it’s prob sacrilegious for fly fisher persons to use scent but if it works...
