Renzetti Craftsman Question

I’m building a bench against a basement wall for a Renzetti Craftsman and space is at a premium, so I want to make it is just wide enough for the carriage to travel.

On Renzetti’s website it mentions that they “suggest the minimum clearance of 16" for the rolling carriage/8 spool attachment”...I’m not sure if that means 16” from the back edge of the lathe bed, or 16” total for the width of lathe (with riser blocks) and the carriage.

If one of you have a chance, could you please let me know the total bench width needed?  I really appreciate it.

Thank you for taking the time to take pictures, Mike.

I think that picture showing the 14 inches is the most telling. I am going to go with a bench 17” wide, which should give enough room to hang a couple narrow things like tools on a pegboard on the wall.

Thank you again.

I checked it on my lathe, which is an original Clemens, and the distance from the back of the 8-thread fixture to the front edge of the rolling carriage is 16.5 inches.
