Bourne PD were called in to bring a fly fisherman ashore who was fly fishing after dark in the channel in a kajak.

Did he not have lights or something? Maybe I'm a bit unclear on the dangers of kayak fishing at night or the geography of this location - is the channel very heavy currents?

I don’t believe you’re allowed to kayak in the canal or fish other than from shore.

Yes, it’s busy with boat / ship traffic and ripping currents. No bueno.

Oh, didn't know it was the canal. That makes complete sense then, should be fined accordingly.

Nothing happened.  Bourne PD was cool, no yelling or hysteria. They called the ACOE, and they told PD to tell the guy to cease and desist.

Hmmm

i wonder if you can legally tack the mudflats? I doubt it

That place will drive you nuts. I’ve seen it loaded with fish at night and yet caught nothing. Man is it frustrating as all.

I don't know why anybody would want to fish in a kayak at night.  Dangerous.

Asking for trouble. I'll bet he didn't have a PFD! Tourist for sure. FishHawk

Actually no.  Had a PFD.  Was an experienced fly fisherman.  Was actually standing in the kajak casting 2 handed spey rod.

But the guy wasn't fishing the mud flats, but well outside that and in the channel.
