Usually this, and if it’s slippery I’ll put on some wading socks and my korkers.

Hmm. Might have to get a wetsuit and/or a StormR jacket then.

That's the way I go, Stormr cuts the wind and when a big wave takes you, you don't have to worry about your waders filling.

i wetsuit fish 95 percent of the time. I am looking for a top that will keep me from getting soaked in my waders. i have a stormr top thats a few years old and it gets soaked right through.

Stormr surf top does a very good job keeping the water out in my experience. Neck, wrist and waist gaskets. I'll wear it when I'm out and about in a heavy downpour as well.

I gave up fishing those types of days. They suck and sap your energy. It’s such a pain trying to keep the car clean and all that other stuff that comes with fishing and coming back with gear soaking wet, particularly clothing

Don’t know why someone brand new to the surf would want to fish those conditions. If your buddy is a sand beach fisherman and not wading to a rock in Montauk- tell him to wear his waders, a good dry top like something from Guy Cotten and to be sure to wear his belt over his top and pulled snug. I would hold off on wetsuiting, if he wants to go that route, until he is more experienced and confident. When you are in bad weather conditions- Mother Nature does not play.
