No more slop in my 180 Drive cranks

7 posts in this topic

Got really tired of the sloppy fit of the cranks in my 180 drive. 1/8"+ is unacceptable in my opinion for a $800 drive. Set to work, found some stainless bolts I had lying around and chucked them up in the lathe. Turned them down, drilled new cross pin holes, and voila. Absolutely no more clicking or sloppiness and still adjusts on the fly. Just felt like sharing.

I love it, nice job. Really have some talent here at SOL, like “ just chucked them up in lathe”. That slop would drive me nuts also! ......Jack

Thanks Bulldog! It was about a .030" diameter difference between stock and my remakes. Huge difference.

Nice.

Now onto the next, that hollow aluminum crank hates stainless and salt water.

I do have access to 316 alloy bar stock and tube  hmmm...
