I have a trip out on the Hampton Lady tomorrow and was wondering what is recommended for these waters. I use a Tsunami Classic MH for light bucktailing but I feel like I might want the heavier gloomis on a party boat. Any help would be appreciated.

Love that rod in the spinning version. Balance perfectly with a 15 oz reel and easily flips 5-7 lbs fish into the boat. It has power to move fish from structure quickly.

What’s your take on the lure rating? 1 oz too light for the rod?

Not really. I was able to cast shrimp on 1/4 oz jig head using 15 lbs braid and 25lbs leader. It'll depend on the baitcasting reel.
