It's 1/16 hard temper stainless, I can't recall the grade, probably 304. I have a bundle of 2' lengths I bought for work a long time ago, but McMaster seems to only have 1' now. 89085K85 is $6.91 per pack of 25. I bet there's some dollar store household object out there to buy and scavenge for this kind of wire. I needed some 1/32 diameter to make springs for my anchor reel design, and I found stashed in junk this weird wire 'head scratcher' my daughter had gotten somewhere. It worked just great, then I remembered where I had stashed the roll of stainless spring wire that size.

If you have an old bicycle rim lying around,  snip off the spokes & use them, they're stainless & work well for stuff like this..

I made this casting egg using a bicycle spoke as the thru wire.

Tube around 15"-18" with a bendable steel wire inside is my favorite.

Just ordered materials to make my own.

Anyone have a video on how to make the the tube & worm? Not the rig, interested in making my own.
