I see minks often on the canal. Haven’t seen a rat in a long time. I’ve never seen mink on any other jetty or fishing area. Some of the jetties and area I fish have mice and rats running around. Probably a result of all the fishing baits and garbage left around.

Dont know the effects of minks but maybe they should be released in other areas.

Wondering if there territory has expanded or are they just near the canal?

Minks are impressive predators. Check out Mink Man on YouTube. He takes Minks from fur farms and trains them to kill rats alongside his dog. They work as a team for hire. I don’t know how I came upon it but I was surprise at how lethal they are just killing rat after rat seemingly for fun lol.

The Least Weasel is easy to identify in that it has a white belly and is smaller and skinnier than a red squirrel.  They're fairly common all over this area.  Recently I've seen them in Woburn and North Andover and Andover.
