Early start this morning trying to find the trout of last week.
In vain though as I could not find any.

Insects where on the water early but nothing was rising.

I did a field test with the Perdigon nymphs I had bought and they actually worked.

The roach seemed to like them and one small trout came for them.

The patterns I bought where kind of heavy so no subtle entry in the water but they got

deep and caught fish.

I had planned a break at the pub but the bikers where on the loose in hordes.
With the strict covid measures a long line had formed at the ordering booth so I skipped

lunch and continued my fishing session.

I visited a place where I had not been in ages and boy there where a lot of trout there.

Mayflies where in abundance and the trout went crazy making lots of racket.

The problem was that casting was impossible with the high banks and the shrubs and trees.

I spotted a trout under some submerged logs and tried to coax it out with a nymph and

a streamer but both failed.

The streamer got stuck and when I tried to pull it out the leader broke and the fish was gone.

In de pool behind the logs I spotted larger roach and tried to catch them.

The bite I got however was from the trout.

I was pretty sure I could land the fish but when he went in the submerged roots of the tree

it was over.

Downstream I finally found an interesting pool where I could wade.

I dropped the perdigon in a fast flowing deeper stretch and got hits.

I spotted small fish but then the indicator went under and something

larger showed up, a nice trout.

During the day the weather had changed from sunny to cloudy with lots of wind and

back again.

With the late hour and lower temperatures I figured most bikers would be gone and

so it was back to the pub.
Some of my friends where also fishing today and by coincidence we both arrived

at the same time at the pub.

A tad chilly to be sitting outside but at least some normality has been regained, a good

day.
