· #1 Posted May 11, 2020 (edited) Hi guys, Been looking for some feedback on this Tica Tc2 UEHA532002S 10'6'' Medium-Heavy rod rated 1-3oz. I only found threads about either people looking for one or also looking for some feedback. I want to know about first hand experiences with this rod. Reel pairing and actual lure weight ratings. How does it hold up? I already have this rod actually, received it yesterday. I'm just not sure what to think about the feel of it. I find it a bit whippy all the way to the butt. Purchased it to cast light lures mag darters, SP minnows, bucktails, etc. Could I do pencil popping with a 6 or 7'' cordell whit this? Don't know, you tell me. It does balance perfectly with my Penn Conflict II 6k LC (18.5oz). Edited May 11, 2020 by SurfFishDan 0 Go to top
· #2 Posted May 11, 2020 Have the 9 foot model and can attest to its durability after using it for 5+ years, however I did notice the top half of the section tends to get loose especially with heavier plugs (donated one to the cape cod canal gods). Quick and easy on replacement tho! 0 Go to top
· #3 Posted May 11, 2020 Not familiar with this specific rod but a 10'6" spinner rated 1-3 might not feel like the broomstick your imagining. Tica makes a good product and their ratings are usually pretty accurate, sounds like a good pencil popping, metal tossing rod, give it an honest chance and remember its not for deadstickin'. Best of luck. 1 Go to top

Both M (1/2-3oz) and MH (2-6oz) in fact. They do both work very well. But I never used a rod that feels like this 1-3oz 10'6'' version... I think I like it. Might go test it out on the river near my home, just to get a feel and report. 1 Go to top
· #5 Posted May 11, 2020 I have the exact rod mentioned. I would describe it, just like you as "whippy". Too whippy to load 3 oz on a cast, but certainly "lobbable", if thats a term. Sweet spot for casting seems 1 1/2 oz. It will be great for all day throwing lures around that weight and lighter. The major issue I had with the rod was the butt length was way too long for the action. I cut 6 or 7 inches off for more comfortable casting. Makes it perfect for casting, not so much for transporting in two pieces. Some prefer the longer butt, however with this action it was hard for me to snap the rod at the right moment for loading lighter weights and the longer length certainly isnt needed for leverage in casting 1-3 oz. Don't let the whippy action fool you, this rod can handle some big fish. Personal experience with 35" reds, 5ft sharks, and some big rays, even with the shortened butt. Just don't try to swing any sizeable fish over the rail or up on the jetty. I have an SSV 5500 on it, I would prefer a tad smaller but it works well. I tend to prefer smaller reels than most. I wouldnt imagine a 6500 would be too ungainly, just not to my taste. 1 Go to top

I think I've read your exact review on Amazon :), that's possible? cutting the butt, catching red's and ray's, etc. Thanks for the lure rating sweet spot, I'll try that and feel it out. What happens at 2 oz? I will definitely try and cast larger 165mm mag darters and 170mm hydro minnow, which are both 2oz plugs. Maybe 1.5 and 2oz GT Ice Cream's too. Happy to know it can land a big one. I'll probably just fish open beaches with this setup (on trips to the North East or Florida). I know the 6k conflict longest is a big reel, but it's very light and balances perfectly, the spool diameter is large but so is the first guide, so it should work fine, I hope. 0 Go to top
· #7 Posted May 11, 2020 2 oz should be fine. Try for yourselfand let me know your thoughts. 3oz my be doable, but that much bend on casting makes me nervous. I feel like if the rod snaps, a sinker is going into the back of my head. This has become my most used surf rod, not only throwing metals and plugs, but soaking bait as well. The bend really works well with setting circle hooks. 1 Go to top
· #8 Posted May 21, 2020 I think 9 food one is nice for light lure fishing. the 10'6 one may need some heavy metal or bigger popper 0 Go to top
