Rangler
I am getting ready for the first-ever striper season. I will be throwing plugs and the heaviest plug weighs 2 3/8 oz (SS little neck popper) What is the best combination out of the following? Reels Sustain 6000FG (I did not know anything about the reel, picked it up from the estate sale lol) Slammer iii 5500 Rods St Croix Mojo Surf MSS90MMF2 Lure weight 1 - 4 oz MSS106MM2 Lure weight 2/4 - 4 oz MSS106MHMF2 Lure weight 2-6 oz Thanks! beerdoh
I have an SLA5500 on a Star Paraflex 10’6” 1-4 oz. The rod is very similar to the Mojo. I don’t use that setup much but it pairs well. The reel is a tank and probably too big and heavy on a 10 footer. That said, if the heaviest plug you plan to throw is 2 3/8 the 1-4 oz rod will be fine.
