The 150 holds plenty of line and is lighter than the 175. I don’t think the spool size is going to affect your casting distance much. I sometimes use my VR50 on my 10’ rod and it seems to cast just as far as my VR150 with 30# Super Slick.

I have tried my vr 125 and  vr 50 on my tsunami elite 9’6, casting seems to be about the same.  I will use the 125 when the bigger fish are in town. But I really like the 50, lighter and holds plenty of braid, can walk and cast for hours when looking for albies, Spanish maks and smaller blues. Also use the 50 on my 7 footer for the bay.
